Artful Success....it's proving to be artfully successful!

(Where I drink the Kool-aid)

So, we all know I jumped in and signed up to participate in Tonya Davidson's Artful Success program. I am soooooo glad I did. I'm loving every minute, as is my husband, cause one of the first things was to banish nastiness from your home that's draining your energy, so THE LAUNDRY ROOM COUNTER IS CLEAN!!! Many more clean-ups are in the works:)

Best part...I have an AWESOME new Sistah Wife/accountability partner...erin. She is young and creative and adorable and talented and she has an amazing mentor and she has the exact same sense of humour as me and she has her own store and she's going to sit with me in the caf!!! (ok...so I'm crossing my fingers for that). I expect fabulous things from both of us, so too bad for Oprah that she's dumped her show cause we would have made great guests!

Because everything in my life is an opportunity to fiddle on the computer for days on end (hmmmm...I think there's a module on that), I made a nifty cover for the binder that holds all of my materials. The kitchen picture is to remind me of one of the things I'm working towards this year...a kitchen reno featuring acidy green bottom cabinets. I'm not an upper cabinet fan, so just banged up walnut slab shelves will be divine.

The weather has been so awesome here, and sitting in my 'window room' (the end of my dining room) listening to the classes has been uplifting. I've been in and out of the studio, but I'm working so much on little things to lay the foundations (plug, plug) that I'm not quite there yet......oh, yeah, and I'm out of sterling.

Posting will be a bit sporadic over the next 2 weeks as I've got a little vacay planned, and vistors, and energy busting cleaning rituals, and foundation laying, etc.

Don't you (pause) forget about me (sing it Sistahs)

Bo Jingles

I've had these little tags in mind for a long time, and with the advent of sterling clay I felt that now was the time to bring them to life. Yep, could have made them with the regular, fine silver clay, but the constant banging together of multiple tags would have resulted in scratching and dinging. The sterling is that much harder, perfect for multiples on one chain.

These have my kids names on one side, with their birthdates on the other. Each is a slightly different, organic shape. The sky is really the limit...you & your beloved's name on one side, wedding date on the other...dog's name on one side, date he or she joined your family on the other....blah, blah, blah.

They can be worn, or gifted, as singles or multiples.

$95 single + 18" sterling chain. Each additional tag is $50. If you are Mother Duggar, there is a special price for 20 kids:) BTW, Mother Duggar.....you ROCK!

Best part....fired, fine silver clay has a somewhat hollow, tinny sound when jingling about. This sterling has such a pretty tinkle that I often find myself fussing and jangling it just to hear the sound. Thus, the name.

Sunday's quote

Best report card comment ever...

"He still finds recorder playing to be rather unnecessary."

...um...yeah...

Apparently, he's rockin' the xylophone! Well, not exactly rockin'. More like "improvising on/with...".

Classic Y & R Friday

Well....would a Y&R flashback evah be complete without a nod to......

YOU GUESSED IT.......

DANNY ROMALOTTI, ROCK STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Said with Mary Katherine Gallagher/Superstar panache!)

This is from the '80's, and he's singing with Lauren, in all of her shoulder-padded glory. Obviously Lauren was taking time off of her regular daily activity of telling Tracy she was fat! That's pretty much what their scenes consisted of back in the day.....Tracy hiding her 'monstrous' appearance, Lauren telling her she was fat, the both of them fighting over Danny, lather, rinse, repeat. Funny thing was, Tracy had a completely normal body, but we were supposed to be mortified whenever we saw her, compared to the other soaptastic beauties:)

Start at about 5:55 for the fantabulous duet.

Sad part is that every time they bring Danny back, we are to believe that he is, indeed, STILL A ROCK STAR!!!! Keep in mind, his main comparisons were to Barry Manilow. He causes quite a ruckess whenever he steps into Crimson Lights. Man, I wish Genoa City would just get a Starbucks already. The richest, most exciting people in North America live there, after all. Surely they can afford $5,000,000 coffee?

End note. 20 years ago, when my nephew was shiny and new, my brother in law used to say upon arriving home....'Where's my son'. My sister would say right back.....

'Who ARE you? Danny Romalotti?'
(She may have added Rock Star!...the archives are confusing)

Danny couldn't seem to get Danny Junior's name right....he just always called him, very formally, 'My Son', much as the word 'ex' has never been used on Y&R. People are always 'My former wife', or in Victor's case 'My formah wife'.

Spring can't be far away

(Couldn't be bothered to straighten the lid!)

I experimented quite a bit on the handle/lid for this...a birdy and some white spring tulips.

I am so drawn to the golden glow on the inside...again, LOS on unbrushed silver. It gives a little surprise upon opening.

Funny, I'm so not in the mood for square boxes lately....I'm loving the curved shapes I've been doing. I'm totally out of sterling at the moment, so a new one will have to wait. Actually, I have a tiny bit left, experimenting with a new text pendant, so we'll see how those turn out.

Yep, I have carny aspirations

I've finally completed the last of my 2012 show applications. Now, nothing to do but wait....in my shorts, knee socks and man sandals...the perfect carny outfit:). Hmmmmm....perhaps I shall also offer up Skittles in my booth...that guy looks like he knows what he's doing.

I'm crossing my fingers for:
  1. Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (Crazy hard to get into)
  2. Muskoka Arts and Crafts Show (I've heard great things)
  3. Ottawa New Art Festival (Ottawa's version of TOAE)
  4. The Maker's Hand in Picton (Last minute addition...small, great reputation)
One of a Kind Christmas Show and The Uxbridge Studio Tour are confirmed.

Won't hear for a month or two on the others. I'll fill everyone in with details and dates when I know anything. Think good thoughts for me.

sunday.

Never ruin an apology with an excuse.
(Kimberly Johnson)

I was bad this week, and hurt a friend. She forgave me. Whew....

Ooops. Don't know what's happening with my post dates. This one says Friday, but today is Sunday?
